The band currently comprises 50 - 60 members and plays
6-12 concerts a year, mostly within our town,
Kfar-Saba, and sometimes further afield -- which can be both challenging and fun. Most of the
band's members are adults who studied music some time in their past while
others only "caught the bug" from their children, as adults.
Since most of us have jobs, rehearsals are scheduled in the evenings and
it is really heartwarming to see how people diligently turn up, however tired or
busy they are.
The band is sponsored by the Kfar-Saba
municipality and the Kfar-Saba Music Foundation, which provides music education in the school system
and supports all of the city's youth bands and music groups. Kfar-Saba has a population of about 75,000.
Some call it "the music city of Israel".
We're more modest - we call it a small town with a big love of music.
Located in the fertile Sharon plain in the center of
Israel,
10 minutes from the sea and 20 minutes from Tel Aviv, Kfar-Saba has well-used auditoriums,
well-attended concerts and the Kfar Saba Music Foundation's program to instill a love of music in the younger generation.
